Once you double-click the icon to launch the MyBolus 2.0 software, follow the instructions that appear on the screen (please view our installation video for a visual demonstration of how to install the software). After you have downloaded and run MyBolus 2.0 to install it, a unique serial number will be displayed on your screen. At this point, you have two options:
a) On the screen that displays your serial number, click the email link. An email message to activation@maxi-med.com containing your serial number will be created automatically for you. In the body of the email, you should include your name (or the name that appears on the credit card you used to pay for MyBolus 2.0),your invoice number, and your email address. After Maxi-Med receives your email message, your activation code will be sent to you via email. You must have a valid email address and a resident email program installed and running on your desktop computer/laptop to receive an email; if this is not an option for you, see option b).
b) Create an account through our website, and include a username and password. Using your serial number, create your own activation code. (Please view our activating video for a visual demonstration]). You can jot down the activation code, return to the screen that displays your serial number, and input the activation number. This will open MyBolus 2.0 for your use. You can retrieve your activation code by logging on to your account at any time.

Ensure that you are entering the correct digits (for example, the number 0 [zero], not the letter O, etc.). After you have verified that you are entering the correct activation code, check it by logging on to your account at www.maxi-med.com. Back to Questions - I own multiple desktop computers/laptops. Can I install MyBolus 2.0 on all of them?
One paid subscription allows MyBolus 2.0 to be installed on one desktop computer or laptop and two devices: a Palm version and a Windows Mobile version. You will need one subscription of MyBolus 2.0 for each desktop computer or laptop that you own. If you are an iPhone or BlackBerry user, check the Mobile Users tab on the www.maxi-med.com home page.

If your mobile device can access the Internet, you do not need to download MyBolus 2.0! Instead, you can log on to your account and select the MyBolus 2.0 Mobile version. If your mobile device is powered by either Windows Mobile or Palm, however, you will need a desktop computer/laptop to use MyBolus 2.0.

Yes! Your desktop computer/laptop does synch up with Palm and Windows Mobile devices. Instructions are installed on your desktop computer/laptop’s hard drive and are easily accessible by clicking Start > Programs > Maxi-Med > MyBolus. (Please watch the synchronization video for a visual demonstration.) No. MyBolus 2.0 is designed only for users of either fast-acting or regular insulin.

Please consult your physician or Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) and follow his or her instructions.
Back to Questions- I was interrupted while inputting my profile data and lost it. Is it stored anywhere?
The information is stored if you have entered data for at least 3 of your meals. If you have entered data for 2 meals or fewer, you must re-enter the data. MyBolus 2.0 works properly when you enter one day’s data (that is, for at least 3 of your meals). A group of data (that is, one day’s worth of information) must also be entered together, within the same time frame. If these guidelines are not followed, the MyBolus 2.0 data output you receive will not be valid.

Yes. The data about your meals must be from the same day. Again, if you input data that was not collected in a single day, the data output you receive will not be valid.
MyBolus 2.0 works best when users enter data from 6 to 8 meals consumed on the same day. However, MyBolus 2.0 can provide outstanding results with data from a minimum of three meals consumed on the same day.

No. Currently, only one profile can be stored.
Back to Questions- How often do I change my profile?
When you notice a blood sugar reading that is somewhat off target, this might be an indication that you should update your profile. If this is not an isolated fact, enter the specific data for your meal (blood sugar values, carbohydrate intake, total daily dosage, and insulin dosage) in your profile in order to update it. Your profile will be updated immediately and your insulin dosages corrected automatically. You can try the same meal at the same time the next day with guaranteed success – as long as no other change happens between those periods.

No. Currently, MyBolus 2.0 is a single-user program.

In most cases, MyBolus 2.0 will work best with data from 6 to 8 meals, but the program will still work well with data from a minimum of 3 meals. If you enter data from a smaller quantity of meals, the output data (that is, the insulin dosage data) may not be as precise as when data from 6 to 8 meals is input.
MyBolus 2.0 works best when users enter data from 6 to 8 meals consumed on the same day. However, MyBolus 2.0 can provide outstanding results with data from a minimum of three meals consumed on the same day. Your “active time” for using MyBolus 2.0 is consistent with the time frame you have used to enter your profile data. To ensure the best results – please enter data for the earliest and latest times of day you plan to obtain a bolus. For example, if you input meal data indicating that your earliest meal is 7:00 AM and your latest meal is 8:00 PM; you will be unable to obtain a bolus outside of this time frame (for example, at 6:55 AM or 8:15 PM). It is important to note that MyBolus 2.0 will not provide an emergency bolus outside of these time frames in these situations.
